Canadian Archery Foundation PDF Print E-mail

After many years of discussion, a Canadian Archery Foundation was established this past August in Laval, Quebec. The Foundation’s mandate is simply to develop archery in Canada. Official registration of the Foundation and establishment of the Foundation’s guiding principles and fulfillment of legal requirements are being addressed by a small work group. Founding members are: Ghislain Arsenault, Al Wills, Bob Tataryn, Don Lohnes, Roger Murray, Alain Gravel and Charlene Parlee.

It was felt that FCA needed a way for members to show their condolences and recognition of members who have made significant contributions to archery in Canada. A book of remembrance will be maintained in the FCA office with the names and donors to the Foundation. Donations have already begun to come in and now total $2,500 in just 3 short months. The most recent donor is the Victoria Bowmen Club (of Victoria, BC) which unanimously passed a motion to make a donation to the Foundation, in the name of the late Greg Durward. Greg, a long time volunteer with the FCA and the Canadian archery community at large, passed away last June after a lengthy battle with cancer.

The FCA’s Volunteer of the Year Award was re-named The Greg Durward Volunteer of the Year Award in Greg’s honour, for his outstanding volunteer service and contribution to the FCA and the Canadian archery community.

Donations will be accepted for the Foundation for any reason. The actual amount of donations will be kept confidential. Families of those in whose name contributions have been made will be notified of the contribution (not the amount) and the entry in the Book of Remembrance. The Book of Remembrance will be displayed on the FCA website.

If you or your Club are interested in making a donation to the Canadian Archery Foundation, please contact the FCA national office at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Tax receipts are issued upon request.

Book of Remembrance PDF Print E-mail

The Book of Remembrance enshrines the memories of our lost friends in Archery. Many of whom devoted a significant part of their lives promoting and growing our sport through their promotion of our clubs and associations. They developed the talents of archers, coaches, judges or managers, but all of them at their own level to share our love for archery, representing their club, their province or their country.

Their camaraderie, vision, dedication, and commitment to others will always be admired and remembered.
Memorials are acknowledged to the donor and the bereaved family suitably informed.

Contributions are tax deductible.

Securities or properties are subject to acceptance.

The Book of Memorial may be viewed at the FCA office or at the Annual Canadian Archery Championships. An electronic version is (will be) displayed on the FCA website.
